Think about it: Beyonce is a multi-Grammy Award-winning superstar responsible for some of the most memorable Super Bowl halftime performances of all time. All I’ll say is stranger things have happened. Paltrow hasn’t starred in a movie since 2015’s Mortdecai, so she’s certainly had enough time on her hands to work on an under-the-radar project with her old collaborator and, hot off the heels of Star Wars, Abrams is maybe the only director in Hollywood with enough pull to secure the biggest sporting event of the year for its unveiling. Could “Coldplay” in fact be a high-profile viral marketing stunt for her next movie? It seems a lot more likely when you remember that 2016 is the 20th anniversary of Paltrow starring in the 1996 David Schwimmer comedy The Pallbearer which, as we all know, was co-produced by the master of the viral marketing campaign: J.J. On first inspection, it seems like a random coincidence, but if you scan Paltrow’s IMDB page you’ll see she has two projects in development, and both of them are scheduled to come out this year.
